Belleruche – Album Press Launch 10/04/2011

Belleruche's album press launch was everything you'd expect and a whole lot more. Kathrine's stage presence was immensely likeable and wonderfully mesmerizing. The albums sound was futuristic yet simultaneously classic, with elements of rock n' electro soul. With the green glow of the lights, the smoke machine and the distorted vocals on some of the tracks there was an almost unearthly feel about the night.

Their single "Stormbird" is out now on @TruThoughts - here's their awesome music vid made by our friends at @Art.War.Ent
It's just about getting my hands on that album now....

A$AP ROCKY Live at Livin’ Proof – Cargo London

Photographer – Shama Anwar

Fans eagerly queued for hours last night to see US rapper, A$AP Rocky play at Livin’ Proof, Cargo. I however cheated the line and gracefully *ahem* climbed over the barriers in order to get to the front of the queue. After a few well deserved dirty looks from the crowd I was in! Dj’s on the night included Kalil, Dj shortee Blitz, DJ Rags and Budgie who provided some mega tunage. A$ap gave an energetic performance, playing 6-7 songs whilst crowd surfing – luckily for him he had two burly bodyguards to save him just in case the London crowd got abit to rowdy for him.  Playing tunes from his “LiveLove” mixtape, I can only imagine big things for this US superstar.

Some footage i shot on my crappy Iphone….

Preview of Amy Hall’s A/W12 collection

After a leisurely stroll down Portobello with brief stop off for jug of margarita we headed to the preview event of Amy Hall’s A/W12 collection at Wolf and Badger. You know a designers doing great things when the comment “I want one of everything darling” just rolls off the tongue. Or in the words of Vogue – ‘Amy Hall’s knits are the clothes to wrap up in this winter.’

The collection ranged from pastels to eye popping brights, incorporating both chunky knits to sexy and sheer pieces.

As with all art it’s better appreciated with a drink in hand which is where the ‘Fair’ drinks came in to play. A Fair trade company with the tag line – Think Human, Drink Fair – there’s no doubt you’re drinking quality.

To complete the night there was a DJ set from Dave Okumu from the Invisible

All in all a wonderful evening of beautiful clothes, incredible cocktails, great tunes and big laughs.

A Man’s Story

Monday movie night took us to the Hackney Picturehouse to watch “A Man’s Story”. This tale documents 12 years of the incredible tailor and designer Ozwald Boateng. London Fashion Week 2010 was the first time I had ever viewed his impeccably designed collection. I wondered, how AMAZING would it be to be taught a few tips about pattern cutting from the man himself!?  As a spectator at his show, it seemed so effortlessly choreographed. The documentary however really opens your eyes to how much blood, sweat and tears Boateng puts into his designs and business. Year by year you are watching this extremely motivated and talented man conquer the world whilst battling against various obstacles. Massively inspirational and entertaining; we liked it, we think you will too!

Unresolved issue’s brought up by Plan B in; Ill Manners

When the riots kicked off in London last year it was one of the most unsettling experiences I’ve been through. The issue’s surrounding the riots all too quickly  were brushed aside – a few commentaries and debates were had but nothing was changed. With some arrests made – it was like a band aid being put on a gunshot wound. In Ill Manners – Plan B’s Ben Drew intends to get us talking again about an issue that’s here to stay unless we put our heads together and action some change.
